Under ’The Spirit of Speyside’ festivalen som gick av stapel i helgen (2-6 maj) så presenterade The Glenlivet en ny utgåva som kommer att ingå i deras core-range, The Glenlivet Captain’s Reserve. Detta är en NAS (No Age Statement) variant av Glenlivet som har fått en slutlagring på Cognacsfat.
Namnet ’Captain´s Reserve’ baseras på Captain William Henry (Bill) Smith Grant, barnbarn till George Smith, grundaren av The Glenlivet. Kapten William slogs inte bara i Första Världskriget i Frankrike, han slogs också för att sätta Glenlivet på kartan och kultiverade destilleriet till ett av de största i Speyside regionen.
Alan Winchester, The Glenlivet Master Distiller, kommenterar lanseringen så här:
“We know that Single Malt consumers are becoming increasingly adventurous and are seeking to explore new flavour profiles and finishes in the category. Research shows that the global consumption of Cognac is expected to increase by some 2m cases by 2021. By introducing the Cognac casks into our maturation process, we are able to capitalise on the popularity of this flavour and add another dimension to our world-renowned portfolio. The Cognac casks’ influence will bring a real richness to the smooth and fruity style of The Glenlivet, which we’re confident new and existing Single Malt Scotch enthusiasts will enjoy.”
